Veneers Q&A
What are veneers?
Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain shaped like a tooth and permanently bonded to the front of your teeth. They cover cosmetic defects and enable you to redesign the appearance of your smile.
Dr. Karabell makes your veneers from an impression of your teeth and colors them to match the shade of your other teeth. This means that with veneers, your smile will look both natural and beautiful.
People love veneers. They’re minimally invasive, painless to apply, and can significantly improve the appearance of your smile with just a couple quick and easy appointments.
What cosmetic conditions can veneers improve?
Veneers effectively treat a variety of cosmetic concerns, including:
- Cracks
- Chips
- Stains
- Worn-down teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Crooked teeth
Dr. Karabell can also use veneers to generally redesign the aesthetics of your smile by closing gaps and making it more even.
What’s involved with getting veneers?
It only takes two appointments to fit you with veneers at Karabell Dentistry.
During your first visit, you select a size, shape, and color for your veneers, then Dr. Karabell prepares your teeth. This involves removing a thin layer of enamel from your teeth so that your veneers lay flush against your gums and look natural.
Once your teeth are prepared, Dr. Karabell takes an impression of your mouth and fits you with a set of temporary veneers. You wear the temporaries for a couple of weeks while the dental lab designs and fabricates your veneers from your impression.
When your permanent veneers are ready, you come back to Karabell Dentistry for a second appointment. Dr. Karabell removes the temporary veneers and bonds the permanent ones to your teeth, giving you a beautiful new smile.
Do veneers require special care?
Veneers don’t require any special care and will last for years if you brush and floss regularly. They’re slightly more prone to chipping than natural teeth, so you should avoid using them to bite down on hard objects or foods.
